Southlake Textile Manufacturer Photography: New Work for United Phoenix Designs

A couple of weeks ago I spent the day photographing beautiful custom made textiles with Nancy Vegel, the owner and manufacturer of United Phoenix Designs. Located in a suburb of Dallas in Southlake, Texas, Nancy is a custom soft furnishings designer and producer servicing interior design firms across North Texas. She designs, creates, and installs custom drapery panels, roman shades, pillows, shams, bedding, bedskirts, and even shower curtains.

Her kindness and passion for textiles and soft furnishings is immediately apparent once you speak with her, and her work is beautifully crafted. It was a joy getting to know her, hear more about her business, and photograph some of her beautiful designs for her website and portfolio.

If you’re a Dallas Interior Designer or Custom Home Builder looking for a local company to create beautiful, custom made textiles for your upcoming projects, definitely consider reaching out to Nancy and learning more about her offerings.

You can read more about Nancy and her business on her website.

One conversation we had while we worked together photographing her custom creations is how in-demand her profession is right now.

The majority of custom textile manufacturers, furniture upholsters, carpenters, electricians and plumbers are all approaching retirement age, and most of them don’t have apprentices working under them to learn the business.

Which is a crisis in the making, since so many businesses in the build/design space rely on these artisans for their work.

These trades are often highly profitable businesses, and absolutely worth exploring if you have a passion for working with your hands. If you’re somebody who loves to sew or renovate vintage furniture in your spare time, I would absolutely encourage you to consider apprenticing at a local company to learn the business.
